all things magical

purchasing a macaroon at Ladurée is a fancy affair. you wait in a velvet-roped line beneath crystal chandeliers. during the wait, you fawn over all the gorgeously wrapped macaroon assortments (this is where those pastel ribbons photographed above come into play). then you see their price tags, snap out of your confectionary fantasy, and begin to crack down on choosing a flavor - just one - because one of these bite-sized suckers costs about $4. you mull it over, you pick a flavor, you change your mind, pick another one, then revert back to your first option. this is it. this is the one that will tickle your every tastebud fantasy. the one that will define your parisian experience. or so you hope. i picked grape cinnamon. jenny picked pistachio. the right choices? yes. worth the hype? every bit.
